There are a lot of advantages to striking off into the smaller and lesser known cities in China. Since many of our schools are in northern and northwestern China you will be living in some of the most ancient parts of the country. There are a lot of historical sites to visit and plenty of chances to hike through the mountains.

The minority groups living in this area have retained many aspects of their cultures including dress, language and cuisine. You also will have more opportunities to practice your Chinese because you will become more immersed in the society than you would in one of the bustling cities on the coast.

Although we have entitled this Web site "Roughing it in China" we aren't asking anyone to live in a tent or teach in a straw and mud schoolhouse. China has been modernizing at a furious pace over the past 20 years and many places that may have seemed hopelessly remote are now easily accessible by air or rail.

Each of the cities we have selected here are off the beaten path, giving teachers a chance to experience China more fully, while at the same time offering all the amenities that any professional teacher would require to be able to live comfortably and teach effectively.

Aston English has been operating English training schools in China since 1996 and we specialize in teaching our students conversational English. Our classes are kept small (18 students or less) so that teachers can give more time and attention to each student. The majority of our students are in primary or middle school and we also offer a program for adult learners. Lessons are taught in an interactive, friendly and fun environment to encourage our students to practice their English.
